The Boeing CH-46 Sea Knight is a medium utility helicopter, developed to the US Marine Corps. Its primary function would be to support assault forces. first production model was known as the CH-46A. This helicopter made It's maiden flight in 1962. The Sea Knight entered service With the US Marine Corps in 1965. Production ceased in 1971 with over 500 helicopters built.
The H-46 "Sea Knight" helicopter is One of the largest helicopters in the US Navy inventory. The helicopter has the capability to land and taxi in the water in case of emergency, and is also able to stay afloat for up to two hours in two-foot seas. due to its tandem rotor design, the "Sea Knight" is an very versatile aircraft. It's able to excel in various flight maneuvers, such as rearward and sideward flight. This makes the helicopter perfect for its primary Navy mission of vertical replenishment. The Sea Knight is armed with two 12.7-mm machine guns on every side and one 7.62-mm machine gun for self-defense. Even so these weapons seem to be fitted optionally.
